Markets This Week: Our Views Across Asset Classes

FX
The Dollar’s weakness against major currencies looks set to continue, although its slide may be more contained versus emerging market peers. For the Indian Rupee, we maintain a moderately bearish stance over the next six weeks, with an expected range of 87.10–88.10.

Bonds
We had earlier highlighted that 6.45–6.50% on the 10-year offered good levels to add duration to portfolios. While a sharp rally from current levels appears unlikely, we continue to prefer running down the curve and earning the carry.

Equities
For equities, the Nifty50 appears well-supported. A meaningful downside move looks probable only if the index breaks 24,250. On the upside, the potential removal of the 25% penalty, rationalization of GST slabs, and a delayed but positive impact of India’s sovereign rating upgrade are all factors that can provide further strength. We continue to prefer large-cap stocks from a long-term investment perspective.

Commodities
In commodities, Brent crude is likely to find support around USD 60 per barrel, with a breach possible only in case of a significant risk-off event. Precious metals remain a key theme—our outlook stays bullish, particularly on Silver, which we believe has strong upside potential.
